Happy Friday, kids!
Gramatik and GRiZ are the bright future of glitch hop. Everyone knows Pretty Lights is my dude but these guys are making a serious move for the top of my mid tempo favorites.
Clean, soulful, heavy, and groovy. Its GRiZmatik. Cant wait to hear more from these guys.
Digital Liberation Is Mad Freedom, yo.
From the big man himself: “A new track from my upcoming record has leaked out unintentionally. The song is called So Bright. I was not ready to put this track out but some how it’s now posted on multiple sites as well as for sale on multiple sites. I made it available for free download just now on the PL site because it has never been my intention to strictly sell any tracks off my new record. You can download it at no cost now at: http://www.prettylightsmusic.com/#/downloads
All the samples used in the track are from self composed one of a kind vinyl pressings. There is a short documentary to be released soon about the making of this upcoming PL album because it was a very unique and laborious process. I’m insanely excited to release the entire record but… I’d prefer to do it on my own terms:). Much love to all PL family, I hope you enjoy the track.”
Here’s a great wake up in the morning kind of track by a Vancouver native Grimes, who discovered her musical talents while studying in Montreal and eventually caring less for school and more for her performances and production. This weekend’s wind down prescription is:
Grimes : Genesis
If you like that, give Oblivion a whirl. And if that tickles you fancy, than get your hands on her Visions album released earlier this year.
happy hangover, and I hope you get over it promptly if you are attending the Full Flex Train Tour tonight in vancity, where Grimes will open for Diplo, Skrillex and Pretty Lights
This weeks mix is something special. Not only because Diplo packed this bitch full unreal music but because on Sunday I get to see that dapper mother fucker live! Not to mention the rest of the Full Flex Express crew: Skrillex, Pretty Lights, KOAN Sound, Grimes, TOKiMONSTA, and Hundred Waters. In one freakin building!
This trans-canada tour of bass music is making history for EDM. The tour was inspired by the 1970 tour called The Festival Express which featured rock and roll greats like Janis Joplin, The Grateful Dead, and The Band. Did I mention its all done via train? So. Cool.
All three headliners have all had massive roles in the advancement of this genre and this tour is pushing even more boundaries. Just how far can they take it? In interviews it has been revealed that Skrillex and the boys may not even break even on this run due to the massive massive production value they are bringing cross-country on a private train. Do they care? absolutely not. They are doing something really cool and having a great time doing it! There are other ways to make money Skrillex says.
Enough talk! more beats! Diplo really brings it all in this one. Get ready for some great exclusives, new tunes, a bit of errything: Dancehall, Moombahton, Dubstep, House, Electro, its gonna get weird. Express yourself.
Sorry guys, you may have known this was coming. For this mix you need a 40 oz. of Colt 45 and fat blunt.
ps. go see Batman.
Well your dirty little secret is out… Skrillex wins 3 Grammys, the Scene explodes, Paris Hilton “becomes” a dj… full stop.
We all saw it coming. The unique and original sound of underground dance music has become a playing field for shitty producers, hype machines and marketers. The not so hipster genre, has lost all credibility as it opened its gates to the masses and let itself be impaled by the raging, looking-to-find-something-fresh-to-copy member of the mainstream. If before you could be a hipster and listen to dance music, now you can’t. But I had such a good time dancing to that upbeat music instead of the regular r’n'r
Well boohoo. Who to blame, for making me move on to other genres to ‘stay ahead of the machine’? Paris Hilton. Well, at least she could be the latest scapegoat..
Ok ok. I think ths article is going too far with some statements, but thats wat you get out of an uneducated bias.
On a lighter note here is some elders reacting to Skrillex. (best part at 4:00)
