Im going to will the sunshine to come out this weekend with this light techno mix by Rob Searcy. I can get on board with anything that starts out with an ‘endless summer’ mix.
Happy Friday kiddos!
Tiga, nous vous remercions, de nous avoir donné ce jour, notre rythme quotidien.
Translation : Tiga, we thank you, for giving us this day, our daily beat. And hell, we mean it.
Tiga is a French DJ/Producer based in Montreal (are you surprised?) Though he hardly needs any introduction, allow me to lift the veil on this extremely talented French DJ. Our boy Tiga is a godfather in the Canadian rave scene, establishing both the scene in Montreal and himself as a DJ in the early 90s. Given what we know about the 90s rave scene, it is no surprise that this man lays down rhythmic dancey beats that involve introduction, rising action, climax, falling action, and denouement. Tiga, le godfather, leaves no dance stone unturned.
So, let’s move through the last two decades (Juno award, Montreal’s first house-only record store, Montreal’s “Solstice” rave, Turbo Recordings, establishing Boys Noize) and here we are. His new single, Plush, is akin to the house pushing tunes of James Murphy and Proxy. Consistent, big build-ups … basically, Tiga doesn’t need a calculator to know that he gon’ see us lata. Can’t wait to hear some Plush remixes!
Oh, what’s that? You want more house? Here, eat these remixes – mmm, satisfaction.
One of my favorite new acts from Sasquatch, NBTD continues to produce an exciting and fresh brand of dancey techno. Here is their new single L.O.W.L.A.N.D.S
Dog Blood: A collabrative side project between the German techno king Boys Noize and the North American dubstep juggernaut Skrillex.
This EP excites me. I first heard Next Order when Skrilli dropped it at his Full Flex Express stop in Vancouver and I was in shock. It was one of those songs that stops you dead in your dance trance in wonder. Is this really Skrillex? It doesnt sound like his normal robot gang bang so what is going on here and more importantly where can I get this?
I mentioned this song excites me. Its a prime example of two artists expanding their musical horisons, exploring, and pushing the boundaries of dance music. It speaks to the credit of both of these incredibly talented young men whos passion is what is keeping this genre from being washed out by popular influence. Keep it up boys.
To be completely honest im not even sure how this ended up on my soundcloud. I think it was one of those tracks that this person you’ve never heard of has shared a track with you and your like ugh, skip, most of the time! not this one, nope. I was hooked instantly by the bubbly funkiness. Reminds me a LOT of James Murphy, and I funking love James Murphy. Definitely a mix to put a smile on your face and get you through this Friday afternoon 🙂
